Article Abstract:Built during WW2 as a steamer because diesel engines were reserved for naval and other government vessels. Design had to suit her post war use and the requirements of the Admiralty. Details of this are given. Short war service in English coastal trade with some trips to Hamburg and Antwerp. After reconversion in May 1946 she sailed for New Zealand arriving in Auckland 27 November 1946. Involved in coastal and trans-Tasman trade. Sold 1966 to Madrigal & Co and renamed ROSA ANNA
